The art of words

Developing great content takes time.

A lot of time. And it’s time that many content marketers and business owners just don’t have. It also takes skill and experience.

That’s where I come in.

I’m a freelance writer based in Montreal and it’s my job to slave over the sentences that make up your web content, blog posts, newsletters and other marketing materials so you can focus on getting other important stuff done.

Most of my work is for online content, so there’s a chance that while we may work together, we may never meet. So here are a few random factoids that’ll help you get to know me better:

When I was a kid I really wanted to learn Latin. I was obsessed. I took out a book of Latin phrases from the library and drove all of my family members nuts for a few months. Audentes fortuna iuvat.

A few years later I did the same thing with Japanese. There were Post-It notes with Japanese words stuck to pretty much everything in the house. Fun times.

House Stark all the way. Although, when I took this quiz, I got Cersei. We deal with our enemies in a similar manner. Well … she finds ways to kill hers … I walk around the house in pyjamas and pout.

My Meyers Briggs personality types is INTJ, which means that I’m a unicorn.

I’m addicted to learning new stuff. Seriously. If someone asks me a question I can’t answer, I’ll end up on Google for hours. I must know. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. It seems like a good thing.

I make my own soap.

I worked as a manager at a pizza place for around five years. I’ve also worked as a chambermaid, a grocery packer at Costco, a cashier, a tech support person at a call centre, and a teaching assistant.

I have an MA in English, a BA in Honours English and I minored in Creative Writing. I also have a TESOL certificate.

It’s my opinion that the Humanities subjects are so much more important than most people realize. Not sure you agree? Check this out. And this too.

There are 336 books on my to-be-read list. And probably twice as many on my already-read list.

I like to make lists. Whenever I think of lists I think of a poem by Al Purdy. It’s called “May 23, 1980” and it’s wonderful.

I’m not actually a unicorn. Or a robot. But I am really helpful. And I live/love to write.

My Work

I’ve worked on a wide range of deliverables, from blog posts to website copy, to press releases to tutorials, and email campaigns.
